The Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH), an independent, non-profit institution involved in economic research and policy counselling, is offering positions for two economists at the department of macroeconomics. About 20 researchers work in the department that has close networks within the international scientific community; the environment for economic research is excellent. Both contracts will be limited to 24 months, but may subsequently be extended. The place of work is Halle (Saale).
Applicants should have completed at least a diploma or a master's degree. With their profound knowledge in empirical and theoretical economics, they should be highly motivated for quantitative macroeconomic research. Both applicants with PhD and those who intend to do a doctorate are welcome. PhD students will be employed on a part-time basis (up to 75%) and will participate in the doctoral programme at IWH (www.dpe-halle.de). The institute supports postdocs in pursuing further academic qualification.
Tasks and opportunities:
You will be part of a research group that works on quantitative macroeconomic topics such as the theoretical foundations of empirical macro models or the development of instruments for forecasting and simulation. Moreover, teams work on special projects for customers of the institute such as the German economic ministries. Researchers have the opportunity to gain teaching experience at neighbouring universities.
Salary and working conditions:
Remuneration and benefits conform to the German public sector salary scheme (pay group 13 Tarifvertrag der Länder, TV-L). The IWH supports employees in making work and family life compatible and is an equal-opportunity employer.
